Dr. Russ Rainey is a Christian Life Coach focused on serving Pastors, Church Staff, and Church Lay Leaders. His LLC is New Direction Christian Coaching, and he and his wife live in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Dr. Rainey is an alumnus of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned a Masters Degree and a Doctors Degree in Psychology and Education. He taught psychology classes for the seminary and for Dallas Baptist University. His career has been spent serving five large churches as Director of Counseling and Support / Recovery ministries. And, he is the author of Helping Difficult People Change ( BookLocker).
Russ' mission statement is: "I coach ministry professionals to thrive personally so they can make disciples effectively." Pastors and Church Staff are the tip of the spear in the battle for our souls, and we must do everything possible to serve their needs so they can serve others as God called them to do.
Personally, Russ knows the ups and downs of life as a pastor, and he has great compassion for those who bear the unrelenting pressure and stress of church ministry. Through coaching, he wants to make their yoke easier and their burdens lighter so they can enjoy the abundant life Jesus promised.
Over the last twenty years, Dr. Rainey has developed a coaching approach to personal discipleship which he has taught to numerous groups of church staff and lay leaders. The Reveal Study of hundreds of churches found that Christians today want new and better skills and tools to grow spiritually and to help others do the same. Helping Pastors, Church Staff, and Lay Leaders use this new approach to discipleship will be Dr. Rainey's greatest accomplishment in life.
When he's not working, Russ loves to enjoy the outdoors, work out, play the guitar, and read world history. His wife is a Certified Christian Life Coach as well, and her passion is helping Church Staff Wives. Together, they have the time of their lives playing with their two little grandsons.
