Have you thought about the kind of parenting legacy you are passing on to your children?
Although I had wanted to give my children a much better legacy than I had been given, I couldn’t give them what I didn’t have until I put new tools in my parenting toolbox. One of which was learning the language of their behavior. It was telling me what they were feeling, what they had experienced, or what they needed. Once I understood this I could stop focusing on changing the behavior and focus on responding to the cause of the behavior.
I believe if more of us learn to recognize the pain and needs driving our children’s behavior there will be less mass shootings.
